Cabinet Maker in the exhibit or display making industry. The preferred candidate will be a graduate of a trade school or apprenticeship program.  We need a high-end journeyman or journeywoman with the ability to construct a project from AutoCAD drawings.

Overview:

We are seeking experienced, dependable craftspeople with a good attitude. The candidate must have experience fabricating museum exhibits, displays, retail interiors or corporate structures using materials such as plywood, hardwoods, acrylic, and metal. The candidate must follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean workspace. They must have a valid and current driver’s license in good standing and demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems. Some travel is required.

Responsibilities:

  • To fabricate large-scale exhibit exhibits and displays for a variety of clients and applications.
  • Manages workload on multiple projects seamlessly.
  • Mechanical aptitude to utilize creative problem solving to find the best approach to the fabrication of each project.
  • Maintains accountability for the final exhibit outcome.
  • Successfully completes projects within the allotted hours assigned to the job.
  • Interacts and communicates well with the project leads and design-detailing department.
  • Willingness to be cross trained.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate and/or a certificate from a trade school or apprenticeship program.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must be able to read and understand shop drawings. Build cabinets with the ability to take jobs from beginning to end with minimum supervision, self-starter.
  • Working with solids and veneers in a custom wood shop, producing high quality furniture and cabinets.
  • Operate a wide variety of woodworking machines in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work in conjunction with CNC parts as well as manual cut parts
  • Attention to detail throughout that fabrication process to hold required dimensions
  • Knowledge of lamination processes and ability to work with custom HPLs including pre lamination, post lamination and manual edge banding.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in a custom woodshop.
  • Ability to handle and apply graphics with care
  • Experience with spray finishes, lacquer and prepping for wood finishing a plus
  • Welding experience is a major plus
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. or more
  • Ability to work in a busy environment with strict deadlines
  • Operate machinery to cut, shape, and form wood, composite and metal pieces into desired shapes.
  • Perform quality control checks on finished products.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs.
  • 5 plus years in custom fabrication services.
  • Ability to read and understand production assembly drawings and specifications (CAD).
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication and materials applications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

We are searching for experienced fabrication technicians to work in the development of permanent exhibits for Museums, Visitor Centers, Zoos and Aquariums. The work is very diverse and ever changing therefore preferred candidates will have a multi-disciplined fabrication background including skills such as carpentry, cabinet making, model making, electronics, machining, paint finishing and plastics fabrication

Summary: We are seeking experienced, dependable craftsmen or women who possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic to thrive in the fast-paced, creative setting within our fabrication team. The ideal candidate should have experience in the fabrication of museum exhibits, trade show booths, theatre, television, or retail/corporate interiors using a variety of materials such as woods, plastics, laminates and metal. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow shop drawings to fabricate project scope items to a high level of finish and exacting specifications.
  • Lead small to medium-sized teams to complete various projects, and tasks (for upper-level fabricators).
  • Participate in installations, where needed.
  • Work with diverse materials, tools, and processes to complement carpentry focus.
  • The candidate must follow established safety rules.
  • Painting and finishing work for projects.
  • Professional client relations while on-site for surveys and installations
  • Collaborate with other team members for material research and estimation
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop and workspaces
  • Other additional duties and functions include other tasks as needed per project and around the shop.
  • Can anticipate and solve practical production challenges.

 

Qualifications:

  • 2-6 years of woodworking, cabinetmaking, and general fabrication experience; position is commensurate with experience.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and experience working with teams under a schedule.
  • Professional shop experience and general knowledge of shop safety.
  • Experience working on installation sites and managing teams is strongly preferred.
  • Experience and ability to operate heavy machinery as well as large trucks.

Position Description:

The Assistant Project Manager (“APM”) works closely with USA’s Project Managers (“PM”) and others to ensure the successful execution of museum exhibits and custom fabrication projects. The APM provides support and coordination for internal and external stakeholders throughout the planning, fabrication, installation, and closeout phases of a project. Specific tasks will be assigned by PMs and others; occasionally, the APM may be assigned to handle small projects on their own.  This role demands an ability to follow directions, work quickly with good judgment, and to meet deadlines. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee small projects, as assigned, from start to finish.
  • Manage production-ready graphics through file prep, production, and quality control
  • Assist with organizing and managing project documentation, and client approvals 
  • Contact vendors and subcontractors for follow-up
  • Track key production and delivery deadlines and help to update project schedules
  • Maintain clear and consistent communications with all stakeholders
  • Create and manage photo/video documentation of shop work
  • Assist with budget management, estimating, and sourcing of special purchases
  • Assist with installation planning, logistics, and closeout documentation
  • Attend meetings, publish notes, and track action items 
  • Research specialty vendors, request quotes, assist with PO process, and track orders
  • Assist with close-out documents at the end of each project
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience

Position Description:

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for leading our team in the complete and satisfactory execution of assigned projects, from earliest planning phases through delivery and closeout. The PM is responsible for the successful management of scope, budget, schedule, and quality and is the company representative who coordinates with all project stakeholders. The PM is responsible for all project reporting and is expected to work collaboratively with others to meet each project’s unique requirements and needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day processes and workflows for multiple concurrent projects 
  • Develop, review, and update project schedules that effectively allocate resources and ensure that production complies with project deadlines and budgets
  • Collaborate with the Production Leads to manage production and project scheduling
  • Material take-offs and procurement from USA suppliers
  • Manage subcontractor schedules, quality, coordination with other trades, and payments
  • Maintain professional relationships with all project stakeholders
  • Provide and collaborate to find solutions to design and material issues
  • Handle all graphics coordination, management, and quality control
  • Manage project changes and change orders
  • Lead (bi-)weekly progress meetings, and scheduled shop reviews, with clients

  • Develop, monitor, update, and communicate the project schedule and periodic revisions
  • Lead frequent quality control reviews of USA shop production
  • Manage job cost reporting, subcontractor invoicing, and customer invoicing

  • Prepare and complete action plans for production, quality control and customer service 
  • Meet project financial objectives by forecasting project requirements, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions when needed
  • Maintain up to date job information and photo documentation throughout each project
  • Ensure that company policies and processes are followed 
  • Occasional travel for meetings with stakeholders and to supervise installation activities
  • Create installation work plans that include equipment rentals, staffing, and logistics

Qualifications:

  • College Degree preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience and demonstrated success managing complex creative projects, with an emphasis on work for physical spaces or experiential environments that incorporate interactives and/or media elements
  • Ability to read blueprints and architectural drawings
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Technical knowledge of fabrication, millwork, and interior building materials
  • Meticulously organized
  • Microsoft Office is essential
