We celebrate the amazing career of USA’s own Don Matz. A skilled technician and model-maker, Don is retiring after being a beloved member of the USA family for over 30 years! Don’s infectious smile lit up the office each day and his thrilling tales of adventure will be missed be all.

Don’s background as model-maker dates back to his teens, as his experience with the formerly known USA Models and Engineering allowed him to apply for a model-making position serving in the US Army. He has produced countless numbers of scale models of all shapes and sizes in his near 40 year’s experience.

From piping models to penguins, from tanks to sunken ships, to aircraft back to more tanks, and SPAM-cans to ball-runs and railroads, his skill, experience and wisdom will leave very large shoes to fill at USA, but he leaves behind incredible knowledge and influence with our remaining technicians.

Some say a complete catalog of his vernacular sayings and euphemisms was compiled and sold to a film studio in the 1990’s, and may one day, find it’s way to the silver screen…
